Anyone including BLIND FREDDY can see that the Australian residential building sector is broken. Regulators know it is broken, so do their state governments who keep pretending that they have it all under control when in fact that is not true. They keep propping up a broken industry. So who owns the problem here? Did the regulators fail to regulate? or did the government of the day and the responsible minister fail to oversee their portfolio in an appropriate manner?  The Federal Government is about to throw money at the states for a "you beaut" new scheme to provide affordable housing......good luck with that.  In the Australian building landscape you don't get what you paid for. It is built into the system- no accountability for the building practitioners, none for the bureaucracy,  none for the minister and none for the government. The only accountability is of the building consumer to the bank when the mortgage is due on a broken home.
